A Personal Invitation From Bo:

A food writer visiting Typhoon! was trying to come up with the right word for the ingredient she tasted.  Suddenly, she smiled.

“You know what it is I taste?” she said finally.  “I taste the love in the cooking.  It’s in every dish.”

We’ve been fortunate to receive an amazing number of honors over the years, but in many ways that was the most rewarding comment of all.

I always tell my staff you have to cook with love in your heart.  Many of our cooks have won major awards.  But the most important thing is, we love what we do.

At Typhoon! we try to bring you a unique Thai dining experience, with different styles of cooking you can “mix ‘n’ match.”  We offer traditional Thai favorites, as well as cutting-edge nouvelle dishes still true to Thai ingredients.  We feature regional favorites, and foods you might buy from street vendors, and dishes from the palace.  I also like to research dishes once popular perhaps 50 years ago, but which have disappeared, and “rediscover” them.   Finally, to keep the menu fresh and fun for you (and for us, too), we offer seasonal specials.

The Typhoon! story began December 5, 1995 (a date famous in Thailand as the anniversary of the king’s birthday).  Since those early days, when we had to crawl across the icy parking lot on our hands and knees to open the restaurant, many of you have become regular guests – and friends.

We’re grateful for the awards and recommendations we’ve received from newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations and guidebooks throughout the nation.  But we never forget that the most important reviewer is you.  The most important meal we serve is yours.

I Invite you to join us for lunch or dinner soon.  Experience Typhoon! and Taste Thailand.

Bo knows Thai food well, from the upper class Thai cuisine, to the peasant food. She probably has a broader range of appreciation for what constitutes Thai food than almost anyone else.
